220333 - Coptic Ethiopian censer hanging lidded incense burner - Ethiopia



Coptic Ethiopia, circa 1900

Resting on a conical base treated with openwork, the trough is covered with a dome lid which is also openwork and thus allows the diffusion of incense vapors. This dome is topped with a Coptic cross. Release from the holder three accompanying chains of bells, which are attached to the top, with a cross handle on the top to swing with during the Coptic service.
