This Coptic manuscript is made in the 18th century.
Size are 7 cm x 6 cm.
Total 86 pages with 43 leaves with wood covers in a leather bag with rope.
This Coptic manuscript are made in end 18th century, is handwritten and have 3 handpainted icons.
This manuscript are written in the ancient Semitic Ge'ez language. Language currently used in sacred books such as Coptic Bibles, breviaries and similar prayer books. The writings of this manuscript refer to moral, esoteric, ethical, philosophical and religious foundations, some of them also contain paintings which were applied as a kind of good luck charm, when this was finished they were rolled or folded and were again sewn into leather and worn with a loop on a leather band around the neck.
Good condition for age - some cracks to spine as shown in photographs - some soiling to pages with usual smudge marks and occasional holes, which are normal characteristics for this type of bible of this age.
A good example in age appropriate condition.

Parchment leaves (animal skin) inscribed with black and red in the Ethiopian script on both sides of the leaves. Probably in ‘Geez’, the language of the Ethiopian Church. Bound between two book covers made of wood.
Overall, all parts of the Bible reveal an impressive old quality and usage with a beautiful patina.
This manuscript is from the the early 1800’s, and is museum quality and a rare one of a kind item that would complement your collection or home.
