Tribal used African mask from the Mbundu Sachihongo, Angola.

Hand carved from a single piece of wood, with color pigments.

Height: 31 cm.

This is a very fine Mbunda Sachihongo masks , which are characterized by their round shape, proportionally exaggerated features, and prominent brow ridge and cheeks. This mask was part of the makishi masquerades which are performed at the end of initiation rites for young boys of the Luvale, Chokwe, Luchazi and Mbunda peoples of Angola.
