An old terracotta altar head from Benin or Togo / Voodoo cult / Early 19th century. These voluminous objects are placed on altars and doused (offering) with millet porridge. They are known as "Kronkronbali" (children of the past). Refers to EWE rebirth ideas and the equation of life and death. They come from the area of the Mono River which forms the border between Togo and Benin.
A large ceramic pot with face carved and modeled on one side. Ewe or For people, Togo and Ghana, early to mid 20th century. Unglazed and unpainted terracotta. Size are 28 cm high and diameter 27 cm, almost 5 kilo.
