The Bakuba are a people established in the south of the Democratic Republic of Congo
Kuba art mainly developed around the royal person. This prestigious culture, made famous by its masks, its royal statuettes and its “Kasai velvets” is also rich in magnificent ceremonial costumes. The production of masks which find their identity during rites of passage is one of the most remarkable elements of Kuba art.
