Rare & old  African Bed support of the Peuhl Fulani nomads on standard - Niger.

Size are 58 cm high and with stand 62 cm, the wide are 38 cm.

It is mounted on a custom-made metal stand for display.

This Bed support are dated from the mid of the 20th century and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

The Peulh Fulani nomads use these pieces of wood, with a crenellated top, to build their beds and allow them to sleep higher than the ground. They were planted in the ground, which explains the erosion of the lower part. They were connected by wooden rods on which a mat was rolled out.

This very simple board with its beautiful blond patina is provided with the decoration of another board.

Fulani, a primarily Muslim people scattered throughout many parts of Africa, mostly in West Africa from Lake Chad in the east to the Atlantic coast. They are concentrated principally in Nigeria, Mali, Guinea, Senegal, and Niger but can also be found in several other countries.
