A beautiful hand carved Kuba box made in Congo. This is an exceptionally beautiful piece with an original and unique design with finely carved decorations of magical lines. The Kuba were master carvers and made some of the most beautiful and intriguing decorations as this piece demonstrates. Carved from a single piece of wood with an exquisite patina, this box was carved in the mid 1950s by a Kuban artist called Nabala. It is signed on the bottom by the carver which is very unusual.
