In the region of Umbria, cradle of the pre-Renaissance period,
important for those first realistic sparks
that arose from nature and from those empirical forms
of spatial representation, lives Carlo Mirabasso.

A humble yet thoughtful artist who intelligently combines in his
way of painting that is sometimes geometric and rhythmic
with the original expressive necessities of volume from the medieval world,
perhaps the seed of all modern art yet to come. A “delicate harmony” that, in his works on panel,
like the triptychs of the fourteenth century, between studies with pre-Cubist roots
and landscape verticalisms, culminates in his painting techniques,
almost marble-like; charged with a subtle material symbolism
with mural-like meanings in which the technique of the fresco emerges and,
in those rustic places, dear to De Chirico,
where space and time stand still in the image of the frame,

Mirabasso brings back feelings of metaphysical memory to the surface.

BIOGRAPHY

Carlo Mirabasso was born in Tivoli in 1959.
In 1979, he graduated from the Liceo Artistico Ripetta in Rome.
Between the 1980s and 1990s, alongside painting, he also worked
in the field of graphic advertising and illustration,
collaborating with numerous advertising agencies and publishers.
In the early 1990s, he began painting his first metaphysical compositions, perfecting a personal painting technique on panel that would become fundamental to his research,
leading a path that would make him a professional artist.
Since 1996, he has left graphic advertising behind and dedicated himself entirely to painting.

He has participated in numerous exhibitions and shows his works in Rome, Milan, Florence, Bari, Teramo, Potenza, Padua, Australia (New Zealand), Marbella (Spain), Taipei (Taiwan).

He lives and works in Bastia Umbra, Perugia. ***

TECHNIQUE AND UNIQUENESS OF THE WORK:

Every painting by Carlo Mirabasso, a painter since 1975, is created entirely by hand, without printing, reproductions, or other photomechanical techniques. The artist begins with a white, material base, to then sketch the composition of the image with a pencil, allowing the work to evolve naturally.

Afterwards, through skillful use of the brush, Mirabasso creates texture, glaze layers, and depth using acrylic and high-quality oil paints.

Once completed, the work is protected with a transparent and glossy varnish of the highest quality, which not only protects against external influences, but also makes the painting bright and radiant.
