Antique Ethiopian Hand-Carved Wooden Platform Sandals – Tripod Clogs with Fiber Straps.

This authentic pair of hand-carved wooden platform sandals measuring approximately 28 cm from Ethiopia features a traditional raised design on sturdy tripod legs. Traditionally used to keep the wearer above mud and dust, these sculptural clogs are made of dense hardwood with original woven plant fiber toe straps and historic repairs. These wooden sandals wear out through use and are therefore different in height.

The sandals each measure approximately 28cm and have a deep, soft patina and softened edges as a result of decades of traditional use in the Horn of Africa. This pair shows fair wear, including frayed straps and minor age cracks on the bottom and top, but remains a structurally stable and visually striking example of 20th century Ethiopian folk art.
